About Us

Anora McGaha, LMBT NC #5886, is a licensed massage and bodywork therapist in North Carolina. She studied for her diploma in massage therapy at The Body Therapy Institute, one of the premier schools for bodywork in North Carolina and the Southeastern US. She is nationally certified and is a member of the American Massage Therapists Association, and founded the online North Carolina Massage Therapists Network.

Following graduation Anora continued her studies taking the one year certification program for teaching bodywork, The Spirit of Learning, also at The Body Therapy Institute.

Anora took an Anatomy Trains class by Tom Myers and was very profoundly drawn to the depth and value of his work. She applied for and was accepted for the Kinesis Myofascial Integration training program developed and taught by bodywork pioneer, Tom Myers. Anora completed Parts 1 and 2 of the 3 part program. Work Experience Anora spent close to twenty years working primarily as an analyst in US organizations in New York, Boston, Washington and Raleigh. As a massage therapist Anora has had her own practice, done corporate massage; events massage; worked in a medical focused massage clinic; gyms; and a couple of spas for short periods.

Background and Education Raised overseas, around the Mediterranean Sea in the Middle East, she is the daughter and granddaughter of diplomats. Anora has a BA in Chinese Languages and Literature from The University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. and a Master’s in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University in Massachusetts.

Chinese has been a major interest. Anora studied a junior year abroad in Taiwan at Tunghai  University, and a post graduate year in China, at Beijing Normal University.

Coaching. She completed a one year weekend program coaching certificate in Business Coaching from the Business Coaching Institute through Duke University’s Continuing Education program in North Carolina.

Family Anora lives with her husband, Martin and their rescued beagle, Lady. Her husband is a video engineer, Air Force veteran, marathon runner and photographer. Anora has a twenty year old son who is a junior at university. Anora believes in giving back to the community and volunteers weekly in the Triangle.

Interests Anora is a writer, pencil color artist (with a small “a”), amateur photographer, blogger, web designer and internet publicist. She’s been called a bird whisperer as she befriends macaws, who can clip your finger as quickly as you can wink. She speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, and some French and Italian and a little Spanish.
